About Shou-Wei
I am a Taiwanese undergraduate at UEA in Norwich, fluent in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese. With two years of experience tutoring children in Mandarin and Mathematics, I understand how to support young learners effectively with respect to their specific needs. Having only started learning English at 12, I can easily contrast the two languages, identify why English speakers may struggle with certain Mandarin concepts and analyse their struggles from their perspectives. At the same time, as a young adult, my closer age gap with children enables me to connect with them in a more approachable, creative, and contemporary way.

As a native Mandarin speaker with experience tutoring children back in Taiwan, I understand the challenges learners face when starting their language journey. I thus create a supportive, interactive environment focussed on building a strong foundation in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, primarily for beginner-level children. My lessons are tailored to individual needs, whether using students' own materials or merely focusing on conversational fluency.
As a young adult who is also a university student, I incorporate fun activities to keep children engaged and enhance their learning pace. Nevertheless, while I primarily teach young beginners, I am also equipped to work with intermediate learners and students of other age groups. Lessons typically last 1–2 hours but can be adjusted to suit specific preferences.
