With over 20 years of experience in teaching and tutoring within the Primary Sector, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to each lesson. I am passionate about fostering a positive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident and motivated. By understanding each student's current abilities and future goals, I create customised lessons that make learning enjoyable and effective. Whether we are reinforcing foundational skills, achieving mastery in key areas, or exploring new concepts, my aim is to inspire a love for learning and help each student reach their full potential.

About the lesson

The first session is all about getting to know the tutee’s unique approach to learning and identifying their current attainment and strengths. This enables me to build a clear picture of where support is needed and how the tutee learns most effectively. All lessons are structured yet flexible, adapting to the subject and to the tutee’s pace. I prioritise secure understanding over rushing.

Example of how a maths lesson may be structured:

Modelled learning (I do): I demonstrate method

Guided practice (We do): We solve problems together, developing confidence.

Independent practice (You do): The tutee applies the learning independently, with support as needed.

Visual methods, concrete resources, or real-life contexts may be used to deepen understanding.
