About Amar
Hello!
My name is Amar. I am a professional music instructor and performer with over 10 years of rich experience teaching music in reputed schools. I specialize in teaching Tabla, Dholak, and Harmonium.
Training & Qualifications:
Gharana: Trained in the authentic classical traditions of both the Farrukhabad and Delhi Gharanas.
Degree: Holder of a Tabla Visharad degree in Indian Classical Music.
Having spent a decade teaching students in schools, I have a strong grasp of student psychology and adapt my lessons to suit all age groups—from young beginners to adults. I combine traditional authenticity with simple, structured, step-by-step techniques to make learning easy and enjoyable.
About the Class
What you can learn in my online classes:
1. Tabla:
Proper posture, stroke clarity (Nikaas), and hand positioning.
Traditional Peshkar, Kaida, Palta, Rela, Gat, and Tihai from Farrukhabad & Delhi traditions.
Mastery over key Taals: Teental, Dadra, Keharwa, Rupak, Jhaptal, etc.
2. Dholak:
Hand techniques for crisp sound output.
Popular folk, filmy, bhajan, and light-music rhythms (Teka, Laggi, and variations).
3. Harmonium:
Basic scales, finger placement, and vocal warm-up exercises (Alankars/Sargam).
Learning tunes for Bhajans, Ghazals, light classical songs, and basic chords.
Developing ear training to play tunes by ear.
Format: Live 1-on-1 interactive online sessions via Zoom / Google Meet with personalized guidance. Suitable for complete beginners to advanced learners!
