About Silas

I am a passionate flute tutor who enjoys helping students of all ages develop their musical abilities. My teaching combines creativity, critical thinking, mentorship, and accountability. I focus on building strong technical skills, including tone, phrasing, rhythm, and breath control. I also include music theory, sight-reading, and ear training to develop well-rounded musicianship. Creativity is emphasised through improvisation, composition, and expressive exercises. I guide students to set goals, practise consistently, and track their progress. Mistakes are treated as natural learning opportunities and chances for growth. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s pace, skill level, and personal interests. I act as a mentor, offering encouragement, guidance, and constructive feedback. Lessons are structured but engaging, balancing technical work with creative exploration. I emphasise reflection, problem-solving, and independent thinking in every session. I aim to build confidence, motivation, and self-expression in all students. I also teach related subjects such as performance preparation, rhythm, and theory. I create a positive and inspiring environment where students feel supported. My ultimate goal is to help students become expressive, confident, and passionate musicians.

About the lesson

My flute teaching approach focuses on creativity, discipline, and meaningful learning. I believe every student has a unique musical voice that can be nurtured with care and guidance. Each lesson encourages exploration, critical thinking, and self-expression. I act as a mentor who motivates students to reach their full potential. Accountability is an important part of my teaching, helping students stay consistent and focused. I guide them to set achievable goals and review progress regularly. Lessons include tone exercises, breath control, rhythm, and phrasing. I also teach theory, sight-reading, and musical analysis to strengthen overall musicianship. Creativity is encouraged through improvisation and short composition tasks. I emphasise active listening and reflection to help students improve. Mistakes are natural and are used as learning opportunities. My teaching is flexible and adapted to each student’s pace and goals. I aim to create a supportive and positive learning environment. I also teach related subjects like performance preparation and theory for a well-rounded approach. My goal is to help students become confident, expressive, and independent musicians.
