About Juan-mari

Hello! My name is Juan-Mari, and I am a Foundation Phase education graduate from CPUT with a passion for helping young learners grow and succeed. I believe that every child can learn beautifully when they are supported, encouraged, and taught in a way that suits their learning style. With experience teaching and tutoring children in the early school years, I aim to create a welcoming and motivating environment where students feel confident, understood, and excited about learning. I take pride in being patient, organized, and professional, while still making lessons engaging and enjoyable. I teach in both English and Afrikaans and always plan lessons with clear goals, structure, and meaningful activities that help children develop strong foundational skills. My aim is for each learner to leave every session feeling capable, proud, and eager to keep growing. I look forward to helping young students improve their literacy skills, build their confidence, and develop a love for learning.

About the lesson

As a Foundation Phase teacher graduating from CPUT, my approach to tutoring is warm, patient, and designed around each child’s unique learning needs. I believe that young learners thrive when they feel safe, supported, and celebrated, so my lessons are positive, creative, and filled with encouragement. I teach in English and Afrikaans and aim to make learning feel fun rather than stressful.

A typical lesson includes a short warm-up to build confidence, followed by focused activities targeting reading, phonics, writing, spelling, or general literacy skills. I use games, visual aids, real-life examples, and interactive tasks to keep learners engaged and motivated. I regularly check in with students to make sure they understand, and I adjust the pace and methods to suit their individual needs.

My lessons are best suited for Foundation Phase and lower primary learners who need extra support, want to strengthen their English skills, or benefit from learning in a gentle, structured environment. Above all, I want my students to leave each lesson feeling proud of themselves and excited for learning.
