About Jake

I am a passionate flute tutor who enjoys helping students grow musically, creatively, and personally. My teaching combines mentorship, critical thinking, creativity, and accountability. I focus on tone, phrasing, rhythm, and breath control while nurturing expressive playing. I also teach music theory, sight-reading, and ear training for well-rounded musicianship. Creativity is a key part of my lessons, including improvisation, composition, and musical storytelling. I guide students to set goals, practise consistently, and take ownership of their learning. Mistakes are treated as opportunities for growth and reflection. I adapt lessons to each student’s pace, level, and interests. I act as a mentor, providing guidance, encouragement, and motivation in every session.

Lessons balance technical skill-building with creative exercises to keep students engaged. I emphasise reflection, problem-solving, and independent thinking in all sessions. My goal is to develop confidence, discipline, and curiosity in all students. I also teach related subjects such as theory, rhythm, and performance preparation. I create a positive and inspiring learning environment. My ultimate aim is to help students become expressive, confident, and lifelong learners of music.

About the lesson

I teach flute with a focus on creativity, critical thinking, and accountability. I believe that every student can grow into a skilled and confident musician. Each lesson encourages exploration, self-expression, and thoughtful learning. I act as a mentor who guides students with patience, motivation, and support. Accountability ensures that students practise regularly and achieve measurable progress. Lessons cover tone, rhythm, phrasing, and breath control. I also include theory, sight-reading, and listening exercises to strengthen overall musicianship. Creativity is a central part of my lessons through improvisation, small compositions, and experimentation. I help students reflect on their playing and learn from mistakes.

My teaching is flexible to suit different ages, levels, and learning styles. I emphasise curiosity, reflection, and problem-solving in every session. I create a positive and encouraging learning environment. I also teach related subjects such as theory, rhythm, and performance skills. My goal is to inspire students to enjoy music while building confidence, creativity, and independence.
