About Mihajlo
I started playing the guitar in 2003 at the “Petkov Institute” of arts and classical guitar in Skopje. Through passion, devotion and hard work I progressed quickly, so after four years of learning, I was offered a position as an apprentice and teaching assistant at the institute. The following five years gave me the opportunity to work with many students of various ages and abilities, teaching classical guitar and other styles. In 2011 I left the institute to complete my bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and I continued to teach the guitar privately. In 2016 I co-founded the private guitar school “Gitara Pet” with four colleagues, providing guitar tuition one-to-one, and to groups of 3-4 people. Our main aim was to tailor each lesson to the needs of each individual student. In addition, I organised and facilitated a summer course on Macedonian folk music for guitarists in 2018. In my experience as a guitar teacher, I have worked with children from the age of 6 up to 70-year-old students; I developed the skills required to meet any student’s expectations and needs, with a positive and friendly approach yet in a professional and productive manner. As well as teaching I also perform as a classical guitarist. As a soloist and with my previous guitar duo “Isharet” I played for various occasions including poetry readings, art exhibitions, festivals and private events such as weddings. My repertoire includes classical and flamenco pieces as well as arrangements of popular compositions and traditional Macedonian folk songs.

My teaching is based on providing support and essential feedback. Considering that classical guitar training leads to fast progress, I emphasise that in the early stages. My focus is not just on what but on how to practise, encouraging the students to find the right balance between focused and enjoyable work, having fun and pushing themselves forward. In my teaching I involve music theory combined with guitar playing techniques, to develop general music understanding. Nevertheless, I have the same passion, commitment and approach to help students learning their favourite songs whether it is Bach or Bob Marley.
