About Daniela

As an experienced substitute teacher, I bring real-world classroom experience and a student-centered approach to every tutoring session. I have worked with students across multiple grade levels, ages, subjects, and school districts, giving me the versatility to adapt my teaching style to different learning needs and personalities.

Learning is not one-size-fits-all. I understand that asking for help can sometimes feel intimidating, so I strive to create a tutoring environment that is welcoming, respectful, and judgment-free. My goal is not simply to give students the answers, but to help them understand the material, develop effective learning strategies, and become more confident in their own abilities.

My experience in the classroom has taught me the importance of preparation, patience, clear communication, and professionalism. I take each student's academic goals seriously and come prepared to make our time together purposeful and productive. Whether a student needs help mastering a challenging concept, preparing for an assignment or exam, improving their academic skills, or simply gaining confidence, I meet them where they are and build from there.

Most importantly, I believe students learn best when they feel both supported and capable. I want every student to leave a session feeling that they have made progress—and that they are capable of making even more.

About the lesson

What sets me apart, is that substitute teaching has allowed me the versatility of working with a multitude of grades, districts, and ages, and given me the skills to quickly assess a student's needs and adapt my teaching methods based on those factors.

Individualized focus is the backbone of my lessons; I don't assume every student learns the same way. I have real classroom experience, both long and short-term, and am able to see, in real time, how students respond, or don't respond, to instruction.

A typical lesson plan with a student(s):
1) Starting with a warm-up/check-in.
2) We then transition to identify an achievable learning goal within the session.
3) Go into direct instruction/modeling for the student (review the concepts, break down any complicated material into smaller steps, model how I approach the material, use examples and visual aids when appropriate).
4) Guided Practice (working with the material together, and assessing where the student may be struggling/making mistakes).
5) Independent Practice (To assess those assessments, and see how well the student understands concepts without help).
6) Review/Exit Check (Revisit the learning objective. Typically try to end with a question: "What did you learn, Can you explain the concept in your own words, where do you feel like you still struggle?" etc., to make an informal assessment of whether the objective was made; to make the decision on whether a student is ready to advance or needs accommodation ).
