About Ali
I’m Ali, an English tutor based in Dubai, and I’m passionate about helping students reach their full potential. I’ve always taken my own studies seriously — I earned 9s in both English Literature and Language at GCSE, an A* in A-Level English Language, and a 1580 on the SAT, so I know what it takes to succeed under exam pressure. I want to teach because I genuinely enjoy helping others understand English in a way that feels manageable and even enjoyable, not just like another subject to stress over. My Approach to Tutoring I focus on making English feel logical and manageable rather than abstract or intimidating. My lessons revolve around understanding how examiners think-breaking down essay structure, literary analysis, and language techniques into simple, repeatable methods that actually work under exam pressure. I teach by example: we go through model answers, mark schemes, and real exam questions together, so students learn how to think like an examiner and write like a top scorer. I mix in short drills for grammar and vocabulary, plus guided practice essays that we refine over time. Every student leaves each lesson with clear takeaways and practical next steps. Lesson Length: Usually 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student’s focus level and goals. Qualifications/Experience: I scored 1580 on the SAT, achieved 9s in both English Literature and Language at GCSE, and an A* in A-Level English Language. I’ve worked with students preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, and international exams, helping them build confidence and consistency across essays, unseen texts, and analysis. Who My Lessons Are For: I teach GCSE and A-Level students (typically ages 14–18), whether they’re aiming to secure top grades or trying to improve from the mid-range. My lessons suit students who want clear guidance, exam-focused strategies, and tutoring that feels more like working with a smart, encouraging peer than sitting through another lecture.
