About Rachelle
Rachelle is a singer and actor based in NYC, but originally from South Africa. She spent four years at Stanford studying music, vocal studies, and theater, and now works on developmental plays and musical theater projects in addition to teaching.
She taught and directed vocals for productions with the Stanford Light Opera Company and Pretoria Youth Theater, and has performed in musicals, plays, recitals, and concerts throughout her time at Stanford.
She is deeply passionate about teaching and vocal pedagogy, and has worked with students in kindergarten, middle and high school, and undergrad, in both South Africa and the US.

Whether you want to improve technique to support a professional career, or just embrace singing for joy and wellness, Rachelle is committed to meeting you where you are and helping you unlock singing as a meaningful tool in your life.
She tailors lessons to students' unique goals and development, having gained perspective working with singers of many ages and skill levels in youth and college theater companies (as a singing teacher and a vocal director).
Lessons feature a warm up routine, laying a foundation of vocal and music theory, working on technique and performance skills through repertoire, and finally gentle cool downs for safety and longevity. You'll learn about breathing, posture, shaping vowels, resonance, acting through song, and more!
Rachelle was trained by Stanford's Director of Vocal Studies, Kathryne Jennings, for four years, and studied pedagogy (informed by Barbara Doscher's work) as part of her music degree. She is a recipient of Stanford Music's Musical Theater Artistry Award and the Rita Taylor Prize for Vocal Performance. She also received a Robert M. Golden Medal for her honours project, a solo cabaret featuring musical theater, classical, pop, jazz, and self-composed repertoire.
Singing has been Rachelle's greatest professional passion as a performer, and she is deeply invested in building and scaffolding a love of music and the voice in her students.
