About Andre

Most students I meet in IB and A Level Economics are not short of effort. They are trying to memorise a subject that was built to be reasoned through, and it is exhausting.

I teach because of what happens when that changes. A student stops trying to remember what a diagram looks like and starts reasoning about what it is doing, and after that the subject gets smaller, the workload gets lighter, and the exam stops being a memory test. Two years in, watching that happen is still why I do this.

I read Economics at the University of Warwick and sat the IB myself four years ago — recently enough to remember exactly which parts of these courses are confusing and why, not as someone who covered the material a decade ago but as someone who was in your position and still has the papers.

I am taking a year out of my degree, so I have full weekday and weekend availability and I will be here through the whole exam period — you will not be handed to someone else in April. I plan each session around what went wrong in the last one, and I am contactable between lessons if you are stuck on a question. If you are working towards a set exam date, I will map the sessions backwards from it.

I am happy to keep parents updated on progress, and I teach in Portuguese as well as English if that is easier.

About the lesson

From your first full lesson you get my own Economics and Business Management notes — not a reading list, the actual notes I wrote while sitting these exams, the year I finished top of my cohort in both subjects with the highest grade in each. They are condensed, they cover the syllabus in full, and they are yours to keep. That matters for one reason: when a hard question comes up in the exam, you know it is not content you missed. It is familiar material asked in an unfamiliar way — a problem of application, which is what we practise every week.

I teach IB Economics and Business Management (SL and HL) and A Level Economics and Business Studies, online, to students in the final two years of school and to anyone resitting. Lessons run one hour as standard; I offer 90 minutes in the four weeks before mocks and final exams, when past-paper work needs the longer block.

Then keep the diagnostic paragraph, then the credentials paragraph, then "lessons are a conversation", then the video/whiteboard line. Credentials drop to fourth deliberately: with the results claim now in the title, repeating it above the fold spends premium space on something already read.
