About Bennett
You likely want a teacher who stays calm when the music gets complex. I describe my style as unhurried and detail-oriented, which helps when explaining dynamics, expression, sight transposition, jazz improvisation, sight playing, posture, hand position, pedaling technique, and classical repertoire.
Having taught 295 students, I understand how to break down the technical side of ABRSM or Trinity exam prep. Music has been a part of my life since I was 6. Piano is my second study, but it remains a constant joy to share this craft. Seeing someone finally grasp a difficult passage is the best part of my day.

I must confess that I prefer a slow start to ensure long-term progress. Diagnostic playing assessments occur before we set a learning plan, ensuring our path is clear and focused. Using my 6.0 approach, we evaluate your current habits regarding dynamics and expression. My 6 years of experience in the Chicago Symphony informs how I teach phrasing and pedalling.
I find that patience leads to better results than rushing through a syllabus. If we need to spend an extra session on a single measure, we do that. It keeps the work grounded. I enjoy helping players find their own distinct sound through careful study and consistent practice.
