About Isabella

Hi! My name is Izzi, and I have been a tutor for 3 years.
Since I was about 16, I have wanted to share my love of education with others, and officially became a tutor 3 years later. Before that, I struggled at times when learning, mainly with motivation and confidence, and have noticed a similar issue among many of my students. It is my primary purpose as a tutor to help share the knowledge I have gained, not just with the content itself in my subjects, but also around issues like exam technique - more HOW to learn and excel.
The subjects you opt for at GCSE, and later A Level helps to set you up for your future, and so gaining the knowledge and confidence you need at a younger age is so important for your later success, in whatever you would like to do.
It would be my privilege to help you gain the skills you need to succeed and feel confident, and hope to be able to do this with you!

About the lesson

My lessons are entirely student-focused, and each lesson is led by what direction the student wishes to take.
I believe in an open dialogue about areas of challenge and uncertainty, and know that confidence-building is absolutely vital to academic success.
Behind the scenes, I take time to base my lesson plans on any resources available to me, whether it is exam reports, mark schemes or the exam spec, as well as my own personal research to shape my teaching.
Typically, a lesson lasts about 50 minutes to an hour, depending on the student's age. I find that younger students struggle with longer lessons, and boredom or a lack of concentration can hinder a student's positivity towards their tutoring experience; therefore, the length will be determined by what the student feels they can handle. As parents are often aware, school alone is a large commitment, and adding extra lesson time on top of the hours they spend in a classroom needs to be dealt with based on the child's bandwidth for extra learning hours.
I have been a tutor for 3 years now, and have done over 100 lessons mostly in English (lit/lang), and classical civilisation.
The lessons are aimed mostly at students aged 15-18, however I would be willing to accept younger students as well.
