About Ava

I have several years of experience working with children in different age groups through my work in childcare and an after-school program. I have worked with students from kindergarten through elementary school, helping them with activities, schoolwork, and learning new skills. I’ve also worked with older elementary students, which has given me experience adapting to different ages, personalities, and learning needs.

In addition to my experience working with children, I am currently completing both high school and college coursework, giving me experience with a variety of subjects and academic expectations. I understand the challenges students can face when learning difficult material, and I enjoy finding ways to make concepts easier to understand.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach focuses on making learning understandable, engaging, and personalized to each student. I break difficult concepts into smaller steps, explain them in different ways when needed, and use examples, practice problems, questions, and repetition to help students build confidence and understanding. I also encourage students to ask questions and work through problems themselves rather than simply giving them the answers.

A typical lesson would begin with identifying what the student already understands and what they are struggling with. From there, we would review the necessary material, work through examples together, practice the skill, and finish by checking their understanding and identifying anything that needs additional practice.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my patience, adaptability, and ability to explain things in a way that makes sense to the individual student. I understand that not everyone learns the same way, so I adjust my explanations and activities based on what works best for each student.

My lessons are available for students in kindergarten through 12th grade and can cover a variety of subjects, including math, English, science, reading, and study skills. I can adjust the difficulty and teaching style to fit the student’s grade level, current class, and specific areas where they need support
