About Daniel

I have been playing saxophone and piano for over 10 years and I have just finished my first year studying music at Durham University. I am a part of the university jazz orchestra and have been on tour with them, playing gigs in London and Sheffield I have also done various professional gigs in and around Durham. From 2023-25, I was enrolled at the jazz programme at Junior Guildhall Conservatoire and I have done various gigs with their jazz ensembles at world famous venues such as Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho and Milton Court on Silk Street. I have also played at the Royal Albert Hall with the Merton Youth Jazz Orchestra and, in 2024, attended the prestigious National Youth Jazz Collective summer school, which has taught some of the world’s finest jazz artists such as Emma Rawicz and Alex Ridout.

About the lesson

Hey! I am a jazz musician based in South West London with over a decade of playing experience, offering lessons for saxophone or piano. I am open to all ages and playing levels and I can give lessons either online via Zoom or in person at your home (or any neutral location that you prefer).

My teaching approaches will vary depending on your level/age, as well as your goals and what style of playing you wish to learn, but beginner saxophone players can expect to develop a thorough foundation in tone, technique, time feel and repertoire, all of which are essential for any aspirations a player might have. With students who are at a more intermediate level and have an interest in jazz, we will explore key aspects of improvisation, such as navigating chord changes and transcribing jazz solos, as well as the stylistic aspects to do with jazz. I also have experience in classical saxophone, as well as classical piano, if this interests you. If you think this sounds too complicated, don’t worry! I will make learning the saxophone an enjoyable and accessible endeavour for all.
