I have taught younger family members and friends at GSCE level for 2 years, and have taken students who typically struggle acedemically and have, through tailored lessons, allowed them to understand concepts they typically would not in conventional schooling.

9 in maths GCSE (which is the highest grade available)
8 in English language and literature
A in computer science
A in all sciences
I have also mentored year 8's and 9's as part of an enrichment program at my College, where i would help teach a class of children

Through working with children with ADHD I realise that everyone learns incredibly differently and that for a lot of people conventional schooling does not always work. Therefore, I first like to spend some time with the pupil finding out how they learn best and any areas they might be having difficulty with, by touching on the basics and slowly building up in complexity, asking them for input and how they comprehend the things they are already confident at. This way I can communicate new or difficult concepts in such a way that they may find them easier to understand.
From here I will typically incoorporate new ideas into easier problems and slowly increase the difficulty, progressing the students' skill with a topic until they are proficient in the area. This will typically be done with my own questions although text books and past exam papers are always useful resources.
