My Teaching Method & Techniques
I utilize a Concept-First methodology. Instead of rote memorization, I focus on the "Why" behind the "How." By using inquiry-based learning, I encourage students to predict outcomes and test their logic, which builds genuine neural pathways for long-term retention. I often use visual aids and real-world analogies—comparing a cell’s mitochondria to a power plant or an algebraic equation to a balanced scale—to make abstract ideas tangible.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session is structured to build momentum and confidence:
The Warm-Up (5-10 mins): A quick review of the previous lesson or a "challenge problem" to gauge current retention.
Concept Deep-Dive (20-25 mins): Introducing the new topic through interactive discussion rather than a lecture.
Guided Practice (15 mins): We tackle problems together, where I gradually "fade" my support as the student gains mastery.
The Recap & Reflection (5 mins): The student explains the concept back to me (the Feynman Technique) to ensure there are no lingering gaps.
