About the lesson

When starting to work with a new student, I make it a point to understand how they learn best so that I can strategize how to structure my teaching style around what works best for them. I approach my lessons using a very practical & pragmatic framework with an emphasis on learning through trial and error to help the student build self-efficacy.

We start by identifying the exact areas in which the student is struggling. Then, I provide a short lesson on the overall topic that specifically targets the problem areas they're facing, then encourage them to dive right into solving problems and troubleshooting as we go!

I believe this teaching method empowers students to become more confident in their own abilities and helps build self-reliance skills as opposed to having them become dependent on being walked through every problem step-by-step. Additionally, my use of statistics in my everyday job enables me to teach from a unique perspective that is especially helpful for students who struggle to grasp purely theoretical concepts.

At the moment, I am only teaching introductory level statistics to high school students taking AP Statistics and to undergraduate college students taking their Intro to Statistics class or similar. I hope to expand into intermediate and advanced statistics in the near future.
