About Kala

I am a team player, master collaborator, and growth-mindset guru.

I’ve worked at a couple startups and now I work at a small agile consulting company.

At my current job, I’m constantly pair programming and test-driving in code. My communication skills are on point and I enjoy a fun work environment.

I like meeting new people and I’m passionate about demystifying this awesome industry.

I host meetups to strengthen my local tech community (first in Seattle, now in Myrtle Beach).

About the lesson

Think of me as a coach to keep you on track.

This is my ideal candidate to coach:
- You are excited to learn programming but don’t know where to start OR you have started but need help focusing.
- You are able to meet 3-5 days a week before 8:30AM EST.
- You have a Windows or Mac machine with a camera so we can see each other’s faces.
- You want to learn 1 or more skills from this list: terminal/command line, git/GitHub, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Test Driven Development, and/or pair programming.

Scrum structure:
1. We will set up a Jira board for you to keep track of progress.
2. We will have a weekly planning meeting where we set the goal for the week (30 minutes)
3. We will have a brief standup meeting each morning that you sign up for where we discuss goals for the day and any blockers you have run into (15 minutes x #of days a week)
4. We will have a retro meeting each week where we discuss what went well and not so well during the week and then action items/how we can improve your learning experience (30 minutes)
5. We will pair program for at least one hour a week. At the end of each programming session we will give feedback to each other.

Ideally, you are signing up for a minimum of 2.5 hours a week.
