About Sophie
I'm a Chemistry graduate from Oxford University (First Class Honours, MChem) with placement experience in solid-state research at Oxford and in industry. With over a post-graduation decade of experience in technology, AI, and manufacturing, I aim to bring a real-world perspective to STEM subjects. As a mother-of-1 and a life-long science and technology geek, I focus on developing curiosity—not just teaching to the test. I help students build deeper understanding and greater confidence in their subjects. With straight A* A-level and GCSEs, I pride myself on being able to teach great exam technique as well, and give students the toolkit for revision and exam day preparation, even in subjects which are a personal challenge!

I offer flexible, remote tutoring in A-Level sciences, GCSE STEM subjects, 11+ preparation, and Oxbridge interview preparation, with personalised schedules that work around each student's needs. Lessons from 30 minutes - 2 hours, with no minimum lesson commitment. Lesson style will be highly tailored to the individual - as structured as mock examination run-throughs and lesson running, or as flexible as an Oxford 1-1 tutorial. My aim is to leave students feeling confident and inspired, with lots of advice and ideas for how to continue growing independently. (NB. At the moment, I'm only offering remote lessons due to childcare responsibilities, but am happy to discuss face-to-face lessons after an initial trial period)

Perfect! I highly recommend Sophie as a tutor. From the very beginning I found her to be a patient teacher who had an excellent understanding of my needs and learning pace. I felt Sophie was genuinely invested in my progress, and her encouragement and guidance boosted my confidence massively. Overall, Sophie was a great mentor in and out of mathematics.
