About Lucas
I'm a Stanford CS student with a background in tutoring the SAT, building real projects, from machine learning models to a legal analyses for U.S. counties. I care about genuine understanding over memorization, and I recently navigated the college admissions process into a top-tier school myself. My method: I teach from first principles. Instead of handing you formulas to memorize, I make sure you understand why they work, so you can reason through unfamiliar problems on your own. I diagnose where you're actually stuck (usually an earlier gap, not the topic in front of you) and fix that root cause.
A typical lesson: quick check on what you're working on and where you got stuck, then work through problems together while I watch your reasoning in real time. I catch the exact step where things break down, explain the underlying concept, and then hand the work back to you so you're the one solving it. We end with a clear sense of what to practice before next time.
What sets me apart: I'm a Stanford CS student (BS + coterm MS) who recently went through the exact system I coach on. I care about genuine understanding over rote drilling.
Who it's for: middle and high school students working through foundational to advanced math, students prepping for standardized tests or college-level material.
