About Ben
I bring a Stanford science background (B.S. Human Biology, M.S. Biology) and hands-on research experience to every lesson, so I teach the reasoning behind concepts, not just the steps to an answer. That mechanism-first approach helps students see how chemistry, biology, and psychology connect, and I adjust my style session to session based on what actually clicks for each student.

A typical lesson:
Quick check-in (5 min): review what's been assigned in class, homework due, or areas the student flagged as confusing
Concept walkthrough (15-20 min): break down the topic with visuals, analogies, or worked examples tailored to how the student learns best
Guided practice (15-20 min): work through problems together, with me stepping back as the student gains confidence
Independent practice + feedback (10 min): student attempts a problem solo, we review it, and identify any remaining gaps
Wrap-up: recap key takeaways and set a small, specific goal for the next session
