About Halley
I am currently the speechwriter for the CEO of a Fortune 25 company. As a grammar nerd, I get a thrill from teaching others fun, unique ways to commit grammar nuances or word spellings to memory. I have 11+ years of experience in the strategic communications industry, including hiring experience. What I’ve always found satisfying about writing is the fact that you start with a blank page and, when you’re done, you’ve created something out of nothing — perhaps a compelling story or a persuasive argument.
I aim to make writing fun — or at least tolerable — for those who don’t inherently enjoy it. I like to start out by getting to know the person I’m tutoring. I ask them what they like/dislike about writing, what they view as their strengths and areas for improvement, and how they receive feedback best. And I tailor my approach to each individual's learning style.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning — especially not something as subjective and creative as writing.
