I love helping students realise that they are great mathematicians. My approach is different to schools. My whole focus is one student in a session so I can step in before it gets too difficult, or make sure it's not too easy!

Like any mathematician, I believe in using data to inform my tutoring. At the start of working with any student, I conduct a baseline assessment against the curriculum for their year group. This highlights clearly their strengths and weaknesses so that no session is wasted. I also believe strongly in a no excuses, growth mindset approach. Whilst we may not be able to do something immediately, with perseverance, we will get there!
My lesson lengths depend on the age, focus and wants of the student. I normally advise on a 'usual' timing for a student, but may revise this following an initial assessment.
