About Yan Joo

Hi! I’m a debate and public speaking coach, and I love helping students find their voice. Over the past 2 years, I’ve coached students for debate competitions, including a state champion and national-level debaters. I also work with non-native English speakers who want to feel more confident giving presentations or simply speaking up in class and everyday conversation.

Debate has been a big part of my life. I’ve competed locally and internationally, reaching the national finals in Malaysia and breaking at Asian-level championships. These days, I’m often invited to judge competitions too, from local tournaments to events in Taiwan, China, and Vietnam, and I’ve served as an external adjudicator for the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round.
I’m currently a third-year law student at Universiti Malaya and a member of the Malaya Debate Club, so I spend a lot of my time thinking about how to build arguments and present them well.

Whether you’re preparing for a competition, getting ready for a presentation, or just want to speak English with more confidence, I’d love to help you get there!
