About Sindy

Hello!
My name is Sindy. I am a native French speaker born in Haiti, and I moved to the United States at 14 years old. Because I arrived without knowing any English, I intimately understand the challenges and the ultimate rewards of learning a new language.

My foundation in French is deeply rooted: I attended Catholic Middle Schools in Haiti and achieved university-level mastery by CLEPing out of French in college. Outside of my academic background, I have shared my language skills by providing translation services for a mission trip in Zambia, Africa.

Professionally, I am a Registered Nurse with over 10 years of experience. While my career is in healthcare, the "soft skills" I’ve developed as a Charge Nurse and Preceptor—such as patience, clear communication, and leadership—make me a natural and effective tutor. Additionally, I have over 10 years of experience teaching elementary-aged children at my church, which has taught me how to keep learning engaging for younger students.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Chamberlain College of Nursing and an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from Keiser University. My academic excellence allowed me to CLEP out of French at the university level.

Beyond my 10+ years as a Registered Nurse, I am a Certified Christian Life Coach. This training allows me to help students overcome the 'mental blocks' of learning a new language. Whether I am mentoring fellow nurses as a preceptor or teaching elementary students at my church, my focus is on empowering others to reach their full potential

About the lesson

I believe that learning a language should be fun and interactive rather than stressful. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where you feel safe making mistakes—because that is how you grow!
