About Penelope J

I’m a native Spanish speaker — Mexican and French-Canadian, born in Montréal.

I studied Education in Global Contexts at McGill (I also played basketball there), which gave me strong experience in teaching, child development, and pedagogy.

-I create a supportive learning environment
-You can bet on feeling comfortable and growing at your own pace.
-We will not waste time
-I communicate and break down efficiently the lesson's material
-I focus on building a strong foundation

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor

I combine language instruction with lived experience. Instead of focusing only on textbooks, I guide students to experience French through the world around them.

I’m also multilingual (French, English, and Spanish), which helps me understand my students’ linguistic challenges and explain concepts clearly.

About the lesson

My lessons are fully personalized and include:

-Conversation practice from the first session
-Clear explanations of grammar with simple examples
-Pronunciation training based on native accents
-Interactive exercises (readings, audio, dialogues, vocabulary building)
-Homework support for students

-Confidence-building approach — no pressure, no judgment

-Cultural insights from both Mexican
