About Caitlyn

As a former Spanish language student, I understand that learning a new language can come with difficulties - such as not having confidence during speaking exams, not understanding certain grammar rules, or struggling to write in Spanish during a timed exam.

My goal is to give students a safe space to ask any questions or raise any concerns, in an environment with someone who has been there themselves and overcome these issues.

I will also ensure that our lessons are professional and cover important topics which are focused around your own personal language learning journey. I will use techniques learnt from my own 12 years of Spanish learning at school and university to create exercises which are efficient and will get results.

And most importantly, I will ensure that our lessons are enjoyable and fun with a friendly, chatty and welcoming approach to language learning.

About the lesson

As a graduate from the University of Glasgow in Spanish (MA) and Translation Studies (MSc), I understand the nerves that can come with preparing for a language exam - whether that be a speaking, listening or writing paper. I aim to use my own experiences at secondary school and university to help students gain confidence and strengthen their abilities during Spanish classes or exams.

I have lived abroad in Barcelona, Spain for 1 year and have also spent 3 months in Latin America practicing the Spanish language. I believe that my own recent experience of learning a language can give students the best learning experience by feeling understood.

My lessons will consist of easy to follow techniques to help students with their desired areas for improvement, for example focusing on Spanish speaking, writing, grammar or vocabulary. I will plan each lesson based on the individual and their level, and what they want to gain more confidence and knowledge in.

For example, a high school student who wants to gain more confidence for a Spanish speaking exam: I will discuss the subject areas with this student and pull together practice questions, giving them good phrases, grammar and vocabulary to help strengthen their exam answers.

I believe that a friendly and welcoming approach to tutoring is essential, so I will always aim to make my students feel at ease when attending my Zoom classes to ensure they feel confident to ask any questions or discuss any issues.
