About Marie

Hi my name is Marie, here’s a few things about me
I’m 19 almost 20 years old
I was born and raised in TN

I work at Waffle House as a waitress. I’ve been with this company For 3 goin on 4 years on October 7th 2024 (since I was 16) Waffle House has been the only job I’ve ever had.

A little background on my life and why I want to tutor:

it was just me and my mom growing up but my mom battled her own battles which forced me to be in and out the foster care system from the time I was 3 months old til the day I turned 18.. I would be in there for a year or so no longer than 2 years I’d get to go home after a couple months I’d get taken again for the same reasons then the cycle repeated i was eventually placed into the system for the last time at 11 and bounced from foster home to foster home for many different reasons (mainly out of my control) since I was always being moved around to different cities which meant different schools, so it was really hard for me to learn considering every school I went to was learning different things some schools I already knew what my classes was learning but some I hadn’t even got anywhere close to what was being taught I didn’t get the opportunity to have someone help me outside of school. from 9th-11th grade I attended 7 different high schools and was in 29 different foster homes however I didn’t let that stop me from learning things I’ve missed due to changing schools up until I got lucky enough to be placed in the last foster home I ever had to go through the day I got placed just so happened to be 3 days before my 16th birthday (i had just started my junior year a little over a month before) even tho I had to change schools again I got to attend the same school for the rest of my junior year and for the first time in several years I was able to attend ONE school for an entire grade but not only was it one grade but it was A WHOLE AND PART OF A GRADE I spent ALL of my SENIOR year plus all but 1 month of my junior year at the same school and I remained at that same foster home until 5 months after I was no longer considered to be “custody of the state” ( after my 18th birthday) Even though i was constantly changing schools from 6th grade until my junior I watched as many videos and read as many articles and books as I could and I didn’t stop until I knew what the rest of my class did with me dedicating every free second I had to catching myself up it took away my ability to be a kid and do what most kids do so that’s why I want to be a tutor to give kids the opportunity to still be a kid but not have to worry about being behind in class or behind compared to other students in their class(es)

My goals for the future:

my dream/ biggest goal is to open my own daycare/community center not only for everyone but mainly targeted for kids/teenagers/young adults like myself who grew up in foster care and/or didn’t get the love/care they needed so they turned to the streets to find that love their parents were supposed to show them. I want it to be a safe place to go to and have fun whether it’s after school, on the weekends, late at night when they have nothing to do ETC. anytime an adolescent needs somewhere safe to go or somewhere that will keep them from getting into trouble or going somewhere they don’t belong I want them to have that with my community center… I want to be able to hear someones child say I was part of the reason they graduated, didn’t quit a sport or extracurricular activity, continued going to school, a reason for them to continue.. I want the ones that didn’t feel or aren’t feeling the love they should to be able to feel it at my community center!

Rules/expectations:

1) I will accept any grades from k-8th
2) communicate AT LEAST 24 HOURS before scheduled session if cancellation or rescheduling is needed
3)must have a scheduled meeting(willing to make exceptions depending on situations)
4)please be respectful on how I’m helping the individual learn parent/guardian/family/friend/teacher recommendations are encouraged (nobody knows the individual better than the ones In their daily lives)

Thank you for taking the time out your day to consider me as a possibility to be your loved ones tutor!!!

If you have any questions feel free to reach out at any time and I will get back to you as soon as I can!!!
( I’ll typically respond within 1-2 hours)

After you found out everything from above I know You may be asking yourself why should you choose me out of all the other options? Well if I had to answer that question I’d say “there’s not much I can say to give you a reason to choose me out of everyone else because I’ve always believed “actions speak louder than words” but what I can say is whatever you do or whoever you decide to choose I hope they live up to everything you thought they would and can really benefit you all. I personally and honestly want to see your loved one(s) succeed in the same way I’d want to see mine. If I did so happen to be the lucky one you chose to make an impact in not only the students life but their whole families life as well then from the beginning of the very first session to the end of the very last will not only be nothing but everything you expected before hiring me but it will also be more than you expected. I’m not the type that gives up easily. I will continue to work with the student until he or she feels educated /comfortable enough to do it on their own. No matter how many sessions it takes to get to that point I will not stop! Even if the sessions start to go out of your budget I will work with that to. The only thing that I focus on in the time i am working with y’all is the student. Making sure whatever it is that caused them to start tutoring lessons and/or anything that has been a struggle is no longer a hassle for them my Main goal is after our tutoring sessions comes to a final end whatever the student struggled with before is now as easy if they had been studying it for years!!!
