About Diane

I've been a Software Engineer for over 15 years. I've taught at both the College and High School levels, and tutored on and off throughout my career. I prefer 1-on-1 tutoring to classroom teaching. In the classroom I have to give one lesson to a whole group of students, where some will be overwhelmed while others will be bored. In contrast, when tutoring a single student, I can tailor my instruction to that person's individual pace, learning style, and needs. I love to see that spark of understanding in a student's eyes when they grasp a concept for the first time; when they've been struggling with something, and then I'm able to explain it in a way that finally clicks! I get a lot of satisfaction and fulfillment from giving the gift of learning.

About the lesson

When I take on a new student, I start by learning a bit about you, your hobbies, your personality, and your learning style. Then we talk about your goals, what subject(s) you want to learn, and assess where you're currently at in your skill level. Next, we'll come up with a learning plan that we're both comfortable with. I'll provide you with periodic reports so we can keep track of how we're progressing along the path of that learning plan. That way you can take pride in your progress, and we'll ensure you're able to achieve your goals.

Perfect! She was very patient and thorough when she was teaching me these formulas; and for that helped me get more adapted to a subject I thought was hard to grasp.

I truly recommend her to assist you in your academics, because if I didn't I probably wouldn't be passing well on my asvab. Thank you again Diane.

Christian is a kind and respectful young man who just needed some remediation help with his math skills in order to pass the vocational aptitude test required to join the U.S. military. He was attentive during our lessons, followed up by doing the homework I gave him, and asked good questions. It was a pleasure working with him.

It was very nice to meet with Mavi and Jaylen. Jaylen was a strong math student who struggled due to the educational changes that occurred during COVID. But he is a capable young man who just needs a little extra help to return to his previous level of successful achievement.

Brooke's son Broq is a bright, inquisitive young man. I'm helping him with 5th grade math. He has a firm grasp on fractions, and can follow the procedures for doing complex (3 digit numbers) multiplication and long division. He could use more practice studying and memorizing the multiplication table so he doesn't have to count on his fingers or in his head so often.
