About Akuma

About Me and Why I Teach;
Hello! My name is Akuma Ogechi, and I am passionate about helping students improve their English, Literature, and essay writing skills. I have a strong interest in communication and enjoy guiding students to express their thoughts clearly and confidently.
I decided to become a tutor because I genuinely enjoy teaching and making a positive impact on students’ learning journeys. I understand that subjects like English and Literature can sometimes feel challenging, especially when it comes to writing essays or understanding texts. That is why I focus on breaking down topics into simple and easy-to-understand steps.
I am patient, supportive, and committed to helping each student grow at their own pace. My goal is not just to help you pass exams, but to help you build confidence in your writing, reading, and communication skills.
I look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your academic goals!

About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring
I adopt a student-centred and interactive teaching approach, focusing on making lessons clear, engaging, and easy to understand. I believe every student learns differently, so I first assess the student’s level, strengths, and areas that need improvement. This helps me tailor my teaching style to suit their individual needs.
For English, Literature, and Essay Writing, I use simple explanations, real-life examples, and guided practice to help students fully understand concepts. I encourage students to ask questions and express themselves freely, especially in writing tasks, to build their confidence and communication skills.
My teaching techniques include step-by-step guidance, continuous practice, and constructive feedback. For essay writing, I teach structure (introduction, body, and conclusion), grammar, vocabulary development, and how to organise ideas effectively. I also provide corrections and tips to help students improve over time.
A typical lesson lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student’s needs and level. Each session includes a review of previous work, introduction of new concepts, practice exercises, and a short assignment to reinforce learning.
My goal is to help students not only improve academically but also develop strong writing and communication skills that will benefit them in the long term.
The lessons are for grade 1 to grade 6.
