About Kevin

I take music very seriously but I believe the most important part of learning guitar is to have fun with it. I will motivate you and help you break limiting beliefs like "I'll never be able to play that" or "I'm not creative". I will encourage you to never give up on your dreams with music. My goal is to help you build confidence and to not get discouraged when you are faced with the tough challenges every musician has to overcome.

About the lesson

Hello! I started playing guitar almost 20 years ago and I've only recently started to get lessons myself. I know how frustrating it can be to teach yourself and to feel like you'll never get the hang of it. My goal is to help you save years of frustration, quickly improve your skills, and help you have more fun learning guitar.

I will only be teaching metal/rock as I'm not comfortable teaching any other genres. I can teach beginners and intermediate players.

Lessons will be structured and personalized to meet your needs. I am currently working on reaching a professional level and I will be totally honest with you about anything that I do not know or cannot answer. I will get into as much detail as I can about my methods for learning songs, improving your technique, and developing a better understanding of music in general. My methods are backed by a basic understanding of neuroscience.
(For example, I will teach "chunking" as well as the importance of playing SLOW in order to speed up.)

My focus will be on developing clean technique, tight rhythm/lead playing, as well as basic theory. I am not yet capable of teaching improvisation, advanced theory, songwriting or other concepts like professional live performance. I have a general understanding of how to develop metal/rock guitar tones but do not feel comfortable teaching this skill.

I have thousands of hours of experience playing guitar and I played my own music live when I was much younger. It is my dream to get back on stage but this time in a professional band. I'm looking forward to helping you grow as a musician!
