About Rob

I am a Business Management and Marketing graduate from Nottingham Trent University, originally from South Manchester. I have ambitions of a career in business, and I am currently working towards these goals.

My love for music runs alongside my professional endeavours, and I feel I am now at the point where I can provide a unique approach to teaching and really help people. I have informally assisted my friends and family with their musical endeavours, and in doing so, I realised that I have a unique approach to learning that focuses on areas that I feel mainstream guitar lessons often lack. It's an approach that encourages to the student to develop in a direction based on what they want to play.

About the lesson

I have been playing guitar and piano for several years. I have 6 years experience playing guitar, during which I have delved into many genres such as folk, blues and rock. I have experience busking and playing live. I have been playing piano for even longer. I have had very little formal training on either of these instruments, and I think the best way to learn is grow instinctively. This is the base philosophy of my lessons.

I taught myself to play using youtube videos and essentially just figuring things out. I believe it is possible (and very enjoyable) for others to do the same. Therefore, the focus in my lessons would not be to follow some kind of strict curriculum. This is not school. Instead, my lessons will help to find which methods of learning are best for the individual.

I feel that a hugely overlooked aspect of learning any instrument is taking time to develop the ability to learn and grow instinctively. Therefore, a focus in my lessons will be helping to equip the student with the skills needed to advance on their own in due course.

Lessons are 1 hour, and they are for anyone (beginner-intermediate) aged 12- 18.
