About Janeal
I am a qualified secondary school teacher of mathematics. I graduated from Imperial College London with a degree in Biotechnology. I have been teaching KS3 and GCSE mathematics for the last 6 academic years. I have in-depth knowledge of the curriculum and Edexcel exam specification, but I am more than happy to tutor students who study the AQA/OCR/WJEC exam boards too.
I am keen on preparing students to be confident in problem-solving and handling exam questions. I enjoy discussing methods and mathematical reasoning with students to ensure they have a deeper understanding of topics and concepts. Many of my students and fellow colleagues like how clearly I can explain concepts.

In our introductory session, we will discuss your strengths and weaknesses, your most recent grade, and the exam board you are studying. Over our following sessions, we will cover the specification of your exam board.
My lessons with you will follow the same style as my school lessons, which are scaffolded to ensure you understand basic concepts and can work towards stretching your ability. I like to follow an I Do, We Do approach where I demonstrate and allow you to follow and use the method with similar questions. We will also attempt exam questions from your exam board together to expose you to the style of exams and get you prepared for the real thing!
I like to pick the brains of my students, questioning them to ensure they understand the importance of each step in the methods we use. I thoroughly enjoy answering questions and having discussions too, there are no silly questions!
