About Tamara
I am dedicated to the subject of English, with an interest in both Literature and Language. After completing my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Surrey, I decided to further develop my understanding of the subject by enrolling in, and obtaining, a Master of Arts degree in English Literature at the same university. Through my time at university, I have not only developed my skills in relation to the subject of English, but I have also personally developed my confidence and independence. Whilst my main interests are the studies of Asian Literature, in particular Japanese postwar fiction, and postcolonial fiction, I also have a keen interest in the works of William Shakespeare. Despite having finished my formal studies in English Literature, I remain active in research surrounding my subject and the National Curriculum. I am an avid reader and use my free time to read a variety of genres to expand my literary knowledge.

I have a passion for my subject and plan to indoctrinate the minds of young people with the brilliance of Shakespeare. Whilst I agree that progress is important, so is enjoying the subject. Whether it is reading comprehension, spelling, or essay writing that you struggle with, I will help you smash those exams and, hopefully, enjoy the journey.
I am a Secondary School English Teacher with a Masters degree in English Literature and a PGCE. I have experience teaching year groups 7-12 with a variety of topics which include creative writing, essay writing, and reading comprehension.
The length of a lesson is typically 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the topic. It will include a ‘tee-ing up’ to the topic, followed by a writing task, and then an opportunity for students to ask questions. I am happy to mark pieces of work alongside tutoring hours and book additional slots to go through feedback.
