About Emma
I have worked as an Editor for a media company for two years now and consequently, am hot on spelling, punctuation and grammar. I achieved an A* in my English A-Level and am currently in my second year studying for an English Literature degree. Happy to provide evidence should anyone require it.
To date, my experience includes tutoring my two siblings and my cousin for their English Language and Literature GCSEs. All achieved grades 7+ as a result, with one of my siblings going from a grade 3 to a grade 7 in just a year. I'd never had much interest in teaching before, but as my family are all very mathematics-orientated, they all struggled with their English grades and I wound up really enjoying sharing my passion for English.
As someone who once had very little interest in English (I got moved down to fourth set when I was 13 for getting only 1 mark on an exam!) and now loves the subject, I know how a good teacher can truly change a child's willingness to learn. I believe I know how to simplify the more complicated concepts involved in understanding English, and would like to share my enthusiasm and help others to love the subject too!

Ideally, 1.5hr weekly one-on-one sessions with ten-minute breaks in the middle. I'm a big advocate or practise makes perfect, so tend to focus on completing past-papers over and over. I'm also enthusiastic about the importance of learning the assessment objectives and writing a good essay response - things which are often overlooked but can help students to achieve very high marks once fully understood.
