About Emily
I am a high school science teacher with a Master’s degree in Secondary Science Education and experience teaching Physical Science and Environmental Science to a wide range of students. I focus on helping students truly understand concepts by breaking them down into clear, manageable steps and connecting them to real-world examples.
In addition to science, I have experience teaching high school literature and supporting students in reading comprehension, analysis, and writing. I help students build confidence in understanding complex texts, organizing their thoughts, and developing strong written responses.
I am skilled at adapting my teaching to meet individual learning needs, ensuring that each student receives support in a way that works best for them. My approach is patient, structured, and focused on building both understanding and independence. If science has ever felt confusing or overwhelming, I am here to make it finally make sense. I take a simple, step-by-step approach to tutoring that focuses on helping students truly understand science concepts rather than just memorizing information. I break down complex topics into clear, manageable pieces and adjust my teaching style based on each student's needs and learning pace.
A typical lesson starts with identifying what the student is currently working on or struggling with. From there, we review key concepts, work through examples together, and then practice applying those concepts independently. I also help with assignments, test preparation, and building effective study habits so students feel more confident in class.
What sets me apart is my experience working with students at different ability levels, including those who need extra support. I focus on making learning approachable, reducing frustration, and helping students build confidence in their abilities.
My lessons are best suited for middle and high school students who need support in general science, physical science, or environmental science, as well as those who may need additional help with reading, writing, or staying organized in their coursework.
