About Karam

Hi, I’m a full-time laboratory technician based in Melbourne with over 8 years of experience working in a college science environment.

I have a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Microbiology) and a Diploma in Laboratory Technology (Biotechnology). Through my work, I’ve developed a strong understanding of scientific concepts as well as how to apply them in real-life situations.

I decided to start tutoring because I enjoy helping students understand science in a simple and practical way. I know that science can sometimes feel confusing or overwhelming, and I want to support students in building their confidence and improving step by step.

While I am not a classroom teacher, my experience working closely with science staff and students has given me insight into how students learn and where they often struggle.

I am reliable, patient, and approachable, and I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

About the lesson

I offer tutoring for Year 7–11 students in Science, including Biology and Chemistry.

My approach to tutoring

My teaching style is simple, patient, and supportive. I focus on helping students understand concepts clearly, rather than just memorising. I break down difficult topics into easy steps and use real-life examples where possible.

I understand that many students feel stuck or lose confidence in science, so I aim to create a comfortable and relaxed learning environment where they can ask questions freely.

Lesson structure
• Typical lesson length: 60 minutes
• Start by identifying what the student is struggling with
• Explain the concept step-by-step
• Work through questions together
• Review and summarise at the end

I can also help with:
• Homework support
• Exam preparation
• Improving lab report understanding and structure
