About Mendi
I began my science career in 2002 as a camp counselor at an Ecology Camp in Hot Springs Arkansas teaching aquatic biology and geology to middle school aged children. I graduated the University of Arkansas in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Science. I then did an internship in Yellowstone National Park with conservation biologists for one season and then returned home to complete a second internship with The Audubon Society and Beaver Water District doing water conservation projects and outreach about the importance of clean drinking water and water sources. I have taught a wide range of students in many subjects which include: Biology, AP Biology, Physical Science, Geology, Earth and Environmental Science.

My teaching method is to get to know about the students and see what their strengths, weaknesses, and personal interests are. Once I learn what subject and topic we need to work on I establish how the lesson will be delivered. Based on what I know about my students I like to use analogies so students have an easier time visualizing the material. I also have several games like Kahoot and Gimkit to use as well. I have a wide range of lessons to share with students. The lessons include the hierarchy of life starting with the idea of macro level or ecosystems biology. Other lessons are working through population ecology to anatomy and physiology and eventually arriving at the major organic molecules (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids) and cellular biology.
