About Devesha

I am a qualified science teacher teaching in a UK secondary school. I have 20 years of teaching experience and even though I have progressed in my career to a leadership position, I still find classroom teaching the most satisfying and rewarding part of my job. Sadly, in teaching the best teachers make the best leaders and as I have moved up the ranks as a leader in my school my teaching load has shrunk considerably but I love teaching, I have often been commended for 'how easy I make science' for the students and therefore am keen to retain the skill by offering online tuition.

About the lesson

As a teacher and school leader who has been teaching science to all three key stages over 20 years, I am skilled at knowing the concepts students struggle with the most across all three sciences as well as the most effective strategies to impart this knowledge and understanding. There is hardly a lesson that I would teach, either in person or online that doesn't involve the use of drawings and annotations so that students can visualise the theory behind the science they are learning about. Equally I always include or end the lesson with an exam question so that students can apply the knowledge they have acquired and have the opportunity to deliberately practise the art of answering exam questions. As an examiner, I have insight into the nuances of what makes for a model answer so that students are able to secure the best possible marks in response to what examiners are looking for in their answers. My online tutoring lessons mirror the practice of my classroom and I am always willing to offer a free trial lesson for parents who may have reservations about their child's suitability for learning via online tuition. All my lessons are 1 hour long and all my students are aware they can always contact me outside of lessons for additional revision material or just to clarify a concept they may be struggling with.
