About Anael

My name is Anael, and I am an incoming Texas A&M Engineering Honors student planning to study Electrical and Computer Engineering. I have a strong background in math, physics, and problem-solving. I scored a 790 on SAT Math, earned a 1500 SAT superscore, scored a 5 on AP Calculus BC, and placed 6th in my district for UIL Physics.

I understand how stressful test preparation can feel, especially when students are trying to improve their scores while balancing school and other responsibilities. Because I recently went through the SAT process myself, I can relate to students and explain concepts in a clear, practical, and patient way.

As a tutor, I take professionalism seriously. I come prepared to each lesson, adapt to each student’s level, and focus on helping students understand both the math concepts and the test-taking strategies behind SAT questions. My goal is to help students become more confident, accurate, and independent problem-solvers.

About the lesson

My name is Anael, and my lessons focus on helping students improve their SAT Math score through clear, step-by-step explanations. I scored a 790 on SAT Math, earned a 1500 SAT superscore, scored a 5 on AP Calculus BC, and placed 6th in my district for UIL Physics. I am also an incoming Texas A&M Engineering Honors student, so I have a strong background in math, physics, and problem-solving.

My teaching method starts with identifying a student’s weak areas, then practicing targeted questions in Algebra, Advanced Math, Geometry, Trigonometry, word problems, and Desmos calculator strategies. Rather than only giving students a list of Desmos “cheat codes,” I teach the concepts behind the shortcuts so students understand why the tools work. For example, Desmos can quickly solve a system of two linear equations, but I make sure students understand what the intersection point means, why it is the solution, and how to recognize the same idea without relying only on the calculator.

A typical lesson includes a brief review of previous mistakes, a focused explanation of one topic, guided practice, timed SAT-style questions, and homework recommendations. I also help students build an error log so they can understand why they missed each question and avoid repeating the same mistakes. I try to adapt to each student’s level by thinking through problems from their perspective and explaining concepts in a way that makes sense to them.

What sets me apart is that I recently went through the SAT process myself, so I can explain the test in a simple and relatable way. My lessons are best for high school students preparing for the PSAT, Digital SAT, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, or Calculus readiness. As a newer tutor, I bring patience, flexibility, and a willingness to grow with my students while helping them build confidence in math.
