About Frederick
I studied electrical engineering in undergrad at Cornell University and earned an MBA in marketing/finance. I worked in a variety of jobs as a sales engineer, consultant, financial advisor, and worked for Apple for eight years. I’ve been using Apple products since high school.. over 40+ years ago.
For fun, I studied ninjitsu (black belt) and yoga, and taught for years.
In junior high school, I learned to play trumpet as my first instrument. I also spent a year learning to play flute.
You’ll learn more about life, just as much as how to play the guitar, from me. Music is a universal language, but it’s also rich in science, healing, and mental/physical challenges.

I’ve been teaching since the 6th grade.. a variety of subjects over the years. So, I’m an expert at learning and teaching.
Learning to play guitar (acoustic and electric) has been one of the most challenging subjects I’ve studied. In the same last five years, I’ve also learned to play bass, drums, and piano.
My approach to teaching guitar is holistic, from a broad perspective, focused on teaching the fundamentals to beginners.. all notes on the fretboard, scales, chords, arpeggios, finger drills, and simple songs. Initially, I prefer to focus on sound, instead of sheet music. That helps you to learn how to play by ear faster. Focusing on sound uses a different part of the brain than reading sheet music.
Each student learns at a different rate. And, they all have different musical interests and capabilities. So, another major goal in my teaching style is to help you identify your strengths and weaknesses so you can develop your own style.
Looking forward to meeting you! ~ Q
