About Mary
I am a first year university student studying robotics, autonomous and interactive systems, and have A levels in maths, computer science and physics. I have 2 years' tutoring experience across various subjects and levels.
I first started tutoring at the beginning of sixth form, year 12, for a programme that my secondary school ran which provided free tutoring to struggling students. It was through that that I discovered my love of tutoring, and the accomplishment of guiding my students to their desired grades and above. I remember doing GCSE maths and computing and simply regurgitating information rather than understanding it, and subsequently the satisfaction of finally understanding why things worked when I entered A level; I now hope that I can the subjects easier and more fun for current students by teaching them those fundamentals that are always missed in schools.

I tutor maths and computer science at GCSE and KS3 levels, and my lessons are typically 1 hour long.
I like to get to know a student to find out their exact skill level and ways that they study best; i.e: visual, repetition, exam questions, etc. I prefer a more relaxed lesson atmosphere than you find in classrooms. I have worked with both adhd and autistic students, as well, and adapted my lesson styles to accommodate them.
For maths, I typically focus on ensuring they understand the fundamentals of maths and why we do certain methods; I also work on improving their mental maths and how they lay out their working, as this can make all the difference in exams. I excel at algebra, arithmetic and trigonometry.
For computer science, I work on thinking computationally and how to format algorithms, and try to work visually when teaching about computer systems and the physical components. I am also adept at binary and number systems. As well as this, I can solely focus on teaching students Python, if that is their area of struggle.
