About Lillian
I have tutored two high school freshmen in Algebra I - the weakest subject in my school - for the past two years and watched their grades flourish into As. As a current high school senior (graduating June 2018), I am taking multivariate calculus (considered Calculus 3 in college) and received a 5 (highest score) on the AP Calculus BC exam as a high school junior.

My tutoring philosophy is based on examples. When introducing a new concept, I start off by walking and talking through an example. I not only explain how to solve the problem, but I touch on the WHY so students can understand what they're doing at a deeper level, which helps immensely with retention. I always ask if the student has any questions, and if the student has particular trouble understanding a concept, I explain it through various means from analogies to visual diagrams. If a student is solving a new type of problem, I would start off by walking her/him through it as s/he is solving it, and then soon provide minimal guidance as proficiency increases.
