About Charles
I have over 35 years of teaching experience. I have done teacher training, locally statewide, nationally, and internationally in mathematics and science. I have a master's degree in science education and I was a mathematics curriculum supervisor for the sixth largest school district in the United States.

When I’m tutoring in science and math, I almost exclusively use hands-on activities. Usually the problem for students is a basic one. Something in their fundamental understanding of processes and procedures creates a type of misconception in their mind of how to actually solve a problem.
It reminds me of the old adage, if you have the wrong map, no matter how hard you follow it you’ll never get to your destination. I also have many strategies that students can use to go from concrete to abstract concepts.
The lessons I use are usually very fun and students enjoy them while at the same time learning concepts that they somehow have missed.
