About Allan
I am a retired administrator and college teacher, holding BA, MA and MBA degrees. I have taught courses in philosophy, business administration and organizational behavior, and have taught basic reading and math skills in Syracuse University's Higher Education Opportunity Program. I would now like to tutor privately.

My teaching method is tutee-centric. I do not teach math or reading, but tutor the student to improve his/her math or reading skills. From the outset I work to build and foster a relationship of trust that creates an environment conducive to acceptance of mistakes and to taking personal responsibility for performance. We will review school requirements, and create a list of test dates, due dates for homework assignments, and any other assessment dates such as state tests. We will assess strengths and weaknesses and jointly develop a personalized plan, noting where the student is and where we want to go. We will address areas where we both feel there is a need for development. We will provide ongoing feedback and communicate progress.
