I know botany backwards and forwards. B.S (Duke) , M.S. and PhD (Oregon State) . Frankly I was a popular professor at an elite college (Reed College) and many students tell me my courses changed their lives. I have a passion for anything outdoors and it often spills over to my lectures.

I am an expert in botany ( my main area) and general biology. Not so good at A&P. Very laid back. I taught Intro Bio, Plant Physiology, and a range of botany related courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. 32 research publications and >$1 million in external grants mainly dealing with nitrogen fixation and the biological roles of antioxidants. I advised 110 senior thesis projects. More than half of my students went on to graduate school and many are now established as university faculty around the country.
