About Patrick
I am a Medicinal Chemistry PhD student at a world leading institution and have an impeccable academic record in Chemistry. Having struggled in my early stages with the subject I developed a learning style and understanding that turned my crux into a passion. If I can succeed at Chemistry, anyone can.
Chemistry as part of the secondary education curriculum introduces a broad range of unfamiliar concepts and theories that need to be interpreted and understood in order to progress in the subject.
I find the best approach is to identify shortcomings in a tutees knowledge and refer to these founding concepts until a solid, reasonable link is established to ensure that the concepts are not just remembered but understood. Practice is also essential to the discipline and testing a tutee’s understanding with questions is key to identifying where more work needs to be done.
I have worked in a high school for 3 years as a senior science technician, hold a distinction in a Chemical Research MSc from Queen Mary University of London and am currently working as a Medicinal Chemist for my PhD. I have helped many colleagues and students engage with chemistry and would now like to extend this opportunity to you.
