About Garret
My name is Garret R.S. Winegar. I am a college student studying Religion and Political Science at Seton Hall University. I am originally from Darien, Connecticut, where I attended Darien Public Schools. I am passionate about writing, and I avidly work on many creative writing pieces, personal reflection essays, poems, and academic essays on a daily basis. Academically and intellectually, I am very interested in philosophy, religion, creative writing, cartography, studies of political systems, and history. I believe that education is a powerful and liberating tool to bring out the humanity in each of us. Some of my biggest inspirations are my parents, my friends, my church leaders, and historical figures such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Leo Tolstoy.

I like to teach with patience and diligence, and rather than holding the student's hand, let them take the lead and give advice and support along the way. For my lesson plans, I would want to focus on specific aspects of writing and reading based on the student's needs, outline what good and bad examples look like, give the student plenty of opportunities to ask questions, and have an exercise at the end trying to implement what was learned. I believe what sets me apart as a tutor is my patience and willingness to build a relationship with the student and get to know them and their interests, rather than simply being a purely professional tutor. I want my students to flourish and be able to exercise the full potential of their English abilities. I would be able to teach English up to a 12th-grade level.
