About Leo

My name is Likho Potelwa, a current BSc Computer Science student at Nelson Mandela University. I have experience tutoring Mathematics and Physical Sciences to Grade 11 and 12 learners, and I'm passionate about helping students unlock their academic potential. Although I don’t have a formal teaching degree, I’ve seen excellent results from the learners I’ve supported, many of whom significantly improved their understanding and performance. My approach is learner-centered, patient, and focused on building both confidence and skill. I am fluent in English and isiXhosa, and I teach in a way that simplifies complex concepts using relatable examples. You can expect engaging, structured lessons aimed at high school learners who are looking to improve, catch up, or excel. With professionalism, commitment, and personal experience overcoming academic challenges, I am here to guide you through your learning journey and help you reach your goals.

About the lesson

In Grade 11, I failed not due to a lack of intelligence, but because I was distracted and did not take school seriously. That failure became a turning point for me. I returned more focused, disciplined, and determined to improve myself. It taught me two valuable lessons, time should never be wasted, and sometimes failure is the wake-up call we need to become better versions of ourselves.

As a tutor, I bring that same mindset to my teaching. I focus on building confidence and understanding, not just memorization. My methodology is based on simplifying complex concepts, using real life examples, and encouraging active participation from learners. I aim to create a space where students are not afraid to make mistakes, because I believe that’s where real learning begins.

I am proficient in English and isiXhosa, and I am able to teach comfortably in both. My lessons are interactive, supportive, and tailored to each student’s pace and learning style. I offer lessons primarily in Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

Students can expect a tutor who is relatable, disciplined, and results driven someone who understands the journey of academic growth and is passionate about helping others succeed.
